David Yoskowitz
The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department

Executive Director David Yoskowitz will be recognized for his accomplishments in the areas of private lands conservation and his dedication to children in nature initiatives, the wildlife, and coastal conservation. Yoskowitz is responsible for overseeing an agency of 3,300 professionals in 13 different divisions, including Wildlife, Law Enforcement, State Parks, Coastal Fisheries, and Inland Fisheries. He has been actively engaged in the areas of private lands conservation, the acquisition of additional state park land and wildlife management areas, securing state funding for state parks, children in nature initiatives, coastal conservation and mitigation initiatives stemming from the Deepwater Horizon incident, and the state’s management response to chronic wasting disease.

Catarina Gonzales
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality

Commissioner Catarina Gonzales of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott on February 8, 2024. Prior to her appointment, she served as a budget and policy advisor for the Office of the Governor. She has been recognized for her leadership in the environmental and government fields by the Houston Business Journal as a recipient of their “40 under 40” award and as a League of Women Voter’s “Rising Star” award honoree.

Float the Boat is an annual fundraiser that supports Galveston’s treasured environmental education and conservation organization, Artist Boat!  You have helped conserve 1,039 acres of land and got more kids out on the water. Now, join us on the prairie and under the stars as we celebrate over 20 years of educating youth and providing unique coastal experiences.

The 3-night Float the Boat dinner event will be from 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm each night, and includes a fabulous plated gourmet dinner by Mosquito Cafe, live music, a dance floor, an open bar, a live art auction, raffle tickets, and much more!

The Artist Boat World Ocean Day Festival brings the international celebration of the ocean to Galveston. With interactive exhibits, the Beautify the Bucket art contest, live music, and art workshops, the festival is fun and educational for ocean lovers of all ages!
