Desa Polivka

Desa was born on the Texas Gulf Coast and raised in Galveston, Tx.  Most all of her family members are BOI’s (born on the Island).  She grew up learning to fish from the back of a shrimp boat with her parents in the Galveston area and still loves being on the water.  She attended Parker Elementary, Oppe Elementary (the first year it was opened), Weis Middle School and O’Connell High School in Galveston.

Desa comes to Artist Boat with over 25 years of experience in office management & coordination, accounting, account management, human resources, staff management, food & Beverage and event planning.   She values pursuing every opportunity with honesty and integrity.   In the past she enjoyed being involved with organizations that contribute the growth and improvement of Galveston Island and has spent time volunteering with Galveston Resource and Crisis Center, Ball High Project Graduation as the Grants Chairman, Galveston Chamber of Commerce and spending time with the residents at the Meridian Retirement Community.

The last year she has been assisting her spouse Jason with his businesses in property management and in the coastal environment with the bait and seafood industry.   Her son, Ivan graduated from Ball High School, Class of 2020.  He still remembers a field trip he took in middle school with Artist Boat on the west end of Galveston for beach restoration.  She was able to participate with him that day and remember how much he thoroughly enjoyed the involvement and education.  Desa loves spending time with her family, friends and fur babies.  Our home and life on Offats Bayou, especially in the summer, is always an adventure filled with swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding or jet skiing.

Desa looks forward to seeing what the future holds for Artist Boat and is honored to be a part of the growth of the organization with its continued conservation and education.
